How we got started
We got into stump grinding by taking on the jobs other people said could not be done, and by giving people who need a stump ground a high-quality service. That is still how we work. Hard access and large stumps are our speciality, and we quote every job and do every job ourselves.

What we are proud of
Attention to detail. We grind every stump out to a proper depth and take the roots as well, so when you clear the grindings away you will not find a stump that was only ground to ground level. We have had to regrind stumps for people who chose an operator without the proper machines, and that ends up costing them twice. We do it once and we do it properly.
Ground to a proper depth
We decide the depth case by case, from what is going in the area next. It is at least 30 cm unless there are underground services in the way, and we take the roots as well, not just the stump down to ground level.
We arrange Dial Before You Dig for the job. Before You Dig Australia is a free service that provides plans of the underground infrastructure at a site before work starts, so the services are known before the grinder goes in.
Leaving roots behind matters. Queensland Government guidance on camphor laurel says that failing to remove the roots or crown of a mature tree will result in regrowth.
Tight spots and big stumps
Hard access is our speciality. Our machines run from really small to really big, so there is one small enough for a narrow gate and one big enough for a large stump.
Tell us how wide the access is when you send your photos, and we will know which machine to bring and whether we need to set up ramps.
What we do not do
We do not offer a clean-up service. In ten years the most we have done is rake the grindings into a pile and blow off hard surfaces. A proper clean-up needs a tipper truck and a loader, and we would rather spend the time grinding stumps.
The grindings stay with you. If you use them as mulch, Gardening Australia explains that fresh woody material draws nitrogen out of the soil as micro-organisms break it down.
Lawn coring
For lawns we do core aeration, which lifts out a plug of soil so amendments can get into the ground, or spike tines if you do not want the surface disturbed much. We use a cam-driven aerator, not the drum type you get from a hire shop.
Lawn Solutions Australia describes core aeration as ideal where there is a lot of compaction. The Queensland Government explains that compacted soil loses the air spaces that water, gases and plant roots need to move through it.
How we price a job
Every job is different, so we price each one case by case rather than publishing minimums. For stumps it comes down to the size and number of stumps, how far away the job is, the ground conditions such as rocks, and whether we need the smallest machine or ramps. Lawn coring is priced on the site conditions, whether it is one big area or a lot of small ones, and the total area is only part of it.
We would rather have the chance to give you a price than put you off with a published minimum.
